Software for Computer Repair Shops
What kind of software are you using for your repair shops? Is it ...
- QuickBooks?
- Accounting systems?
- POS (Point of Sale)?
- A ticketing system?
Does it work well for you? If you are not using a software system, are you using a lot paper notes for your repairs?
The second question is does it have the functions to help you manage and grow the business? By managing business, we mean that the software need be smart enough to understand what you're doing, and help you streamline the process and automating the repeating jobs as much as it can. By growing we mean the system should help in your decision making and bring in more customers.
No matter whether you're a new owner or replacing your existing software, here is our suggestions:
- Make a list of what functions you need and your requirements. Be detailed about making a list of must have features and optional features.
- Consider who will be using the software and get their input about what they need.
- Request a demo, and carefully try the system out. You need to demo the system as if it's in a real business situation, try to input as many events or situations as you can that simulate your business operations.
- Think about the reporting functions of the system and information you will look at daily
- Make sure the company will be responsible for the support
The last thing is the price. The key consideration is that you're looking for a business management software to run your business and become a tool for growth. The system will become integral to your business, as you will be making decisions about the business. This system should provide value to your company and a return on your investment. Therefore, price should not be your only consideration, as you are investing in the future of your business.
If you don't manage the business very well, then you're just providing a salary for your technicians.
